Born in Kaposvár/Hungary in 1991.
Vera Hegedüs currently lives in Budapest/Hungary. She obtained an MA in American Studies at Eötvös Loránd University, Hungary, in 2015.
From 2017 to 2019, she resided in Hamburg/Germany. Having obtained various positions from customer service representative to warehouse worker, she is now employed as a technical writer.
Hegedüs fronted the noise rock band Sybian Pleasures from 2015 to 2016, releasing the Jesus Slingshot EP in 2016. Her debut novel ostoba, was published in 2021, and, in 2022, won the prize of Budapest’s Writers’ Bookstore. Her collection of short stories is bound to be published in the summer of 2023. She is also working on a solo EP, tentatively scheduled to 2023.
She was awarded the Péter Horváth Literary Grant in 2022, which was linked to a stay at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in May 2023..
