Born 1976 in Jerusalem/Israel.
Sivan Cohen Elias studied composition at the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem, at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv, and at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna/Austria. After her graduation, she was a PhD student for composition at the Harvard University, GSAS School of Music, Cambridge, MA/USA.
After her studies, Sivan Cohen Elias worked on various projects, such as Minsarot, premiered by Fani Vovoni, Yaron Deutsch, and Michael Moser at the Wien Modern Festival in Vienna (2009); Engine Room, premiered by ensemble mosaik and Ensemble Nikel at Ultraschall Festival, Berlin/Germany (2009); and Sedek, commissioned by the impuls Festival and performed by Ensemble Klangforum Wien, Vienna (2011).
Sivan Cohen Elias received a scholarship of the IMD International Summer Course for New Music, Darmstadt/Germany (2008) and she won the impuls competition with a commission for a new piece to be played by Ensemble Klangforum Wien at impuls Festival (2011).
Furthermore, she was invited to lecture at the State University of Music and the Performing Arts, Stuttgart/Germany, (2009). In 2011, she gave a workshop for composition students at the New England Conservatory, Boston, MA/USA. Sivan Cohen Elias works as a composer in Tel Aviv.
