Sebastian Lütgert, a.k.a. Robert Luxemburg, works as an author, artist, and programmer. He finished his studies of cultural studies at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, Germany. Since 1994 he has been living in Berlin with regular stays in Bombay/India, Bangalore/India, New Delhi/India and Calcutta/India.

From 2000 to 2007 he was lecturer at Wissenschaftsakademie Berlin. He published in e-flux, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Junge Welt, Jungle World, Starship, Subtropen, Süddeutsche Zeitung, and taz. He is co-founder of Bootlab (2000–2007), Pirate Cinema Berlin (2004–2007), 0xDB (2007), Pad.ma, and Indiancine.ma. Additionally, he worked as curator of The Oil of the 21st Century (2007) and Dictionary of War (2006–2007). He participated in many exhibitions worldwide, such as amongst others Manifesta, Zurich/Switzerland (2008), Gwangju Biennale, South Korea (2008), Taipei Biennale, China (2008), Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven/Netherlands (2006), Werkleitz Biennale, Halle (Saale)/Germany (2004), Kunstwerke (2003), PS1 at MoMa New York City, NY/USA (2002), and ZKM, Karlsruhe/Germany (2000). His current projects include the video archives Pad.ma and Indiancine.ma, an anthology of texts by Pirate Cinema Berlin on cinema and copyright, as well as a movie on financial capitalism which was filmed between 2003 and 2013 in Dubai/United Arab Emirates.

1991 he was awarded with the Deutsche Jugendfotopreis and received an Honorable Mention and nomination for the Software Award at Transmediale, Berlin in 2003/2004.
