Sarah Lehnerer lives and works as an artist in Berlin/Germany and Munich/Germany. She studied visual arts in Hamburg/Germany and Munich and finished her studies in Munich as a student of Stephan Huber in 2014.
She was a fellow of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes until 2016 and was awarded the Diplompreis des Akademievereins München for her diploma thesis as well as the Debütantenförderung des BBK Bayern. From 2014 to 2016 she did her Master’s degree in Critical Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Austria. In 2016 she received the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff fellowship and the Förderpreis of Kunstclub13. Exhibitions followed amongst others in Stuttgart/Germany, Karlsruhe/Germany, Hamburg, Berlin/Germany, Vienna, New York, NY/USA, Geneva/Switzerland, Athens/Greece and Munich.
In her work, Sarah Lehnerer uses different media: she works in cycles, in which groups of works are gathered under a headline – a chapter – that contains video works (amongst others »music videos«), prints, paintings, sculptures but also zines in which she publishes her own texts. Thereby, speeches and lectures are also a conscious part of her practice. Collaborations with musicians, as well as in the framework of projects like Khybrid, took place.
Sarah Lehnerer is a fellow in cooperation with MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg.
