Salma Lahlou

Graduated both in art history and law, Salma Lahlou has a solid knowledge in cultural project management. After working as the vice-president of the National Museums Foundation of the Kingdom of Morocco, she founded ThinkArt in the fields of visual arts and curatorial practices in March 2014.  She is also the representative and operation manager of AP’Culture Maghreb, branch of AP’Culture, based in Morocco as well as the founder of the brand of handmade goods, AMA.

After working as a jurist in the fields of International Maritime Law, and after four years at the head of the legal department of Gulmar Offshore Company in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Salma Lahlou resolved to convert into an art expert. She then pursued her bachelor studies in art market in paining and graphic art and received her bachelor’s degree from IESA in Paris/France, followed by a master’s degree in contemporary art and its exhibition from Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, Paris. Since 2011, Salma Lahlou gained vast experiences in cultural management projects. After a first experience at Artcurial, Paris, she joined CulturesInterfaces as a curator. From March 2012 to January 2014, she was appointed as executive president of the National Museums Foundation of the Kingdom of Morocco, a non-profit organization that carries the administration, management, and protection of public museums on behalf of the Moroccan government. There, she was in charge of setting up the foundation and the development of its strategy as well as overseeing its implementation. She further worked as the project manager of the first national museum for modern and contemporary art of Morocco.

Salma Lahlou is a fellow in the frame of a cooperation of Akademie Schloss Solitude and ifa Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen.
