René Pollesch studied applied theatre sciences at the University of Giessen, Giessen/Germany (among others with Heiner Müller, George Tabori, John Jesurun).
From 1990 to 1992, he directed his own theatre company in Frankenthal/Germany. From 1992 to 1995, he worked as a producer and playwright at the Theater am Turm, Frankfurt/Germany.
His productions include: Metamorphosen nach Ovid (first performance Theatre of the town of Heidelberg 1990), Ich schneide schneller 3 (first performance Theater Montage Frankenthal 1991), Harakiri einer Bauchrednertagung (first performance TAT-Probebühne 1992), Splatterboulevard (ibidem 1992), Pool – (A Snuff-Comedy) (ibidem 1994).
He has translated numerous plays and has produced, among others, plays by Samuel Beckett and Heiner Müller.
