Ramy Al-Asheq is a Syrian-Palestinian poet, journalist and curator and the author of five poetry collections in Arabic. His first poetry collection in German, Gedächtnishunde, was published in March 2019 by Sujet Verlag. His texts have appeared in anthologies and literary journals in multiple languages, and some have been translated into songs, performances and works of fine art. In 2020, his first book in English will be published by Seagull Books.

In 2014, Al-Asheq traveled to Germany as part of the artist-in-residence program organized by the Heinrich-Böll-Haus Langenbroich in Kreuzau/Germany. A year later, he received a literature award from the A M Qattan Foundation in Ramallah/Palestine. In 2017, he launched the German-Arabic culture magazine FANN. He also works as a curator for Literaturhaus Berlin/Germany and is co-founder of the city’s Arabisch-deutsche Literaturtage (Arabic-German Literary Festival). In 2018, he was selected as a fellow of Akademie der Künste Berlin, and won two artist-in-residency scholarships from Künstlerhaus Lukas in Arenshoop/Germany and Künstlerdorf Schöppingen/Germany.
