Born 1977 in Kaindorf an der Sulm/Austria.
Peter Jakober studied composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz/Austria, and graduated with distinction in 2006.
He is the composer of numerous pieces and commissions, among others: Puls 4 for 14 trumpets, 14 trombones, and 7 tubes, premiered at the musikprotokoll in the styrian autumn in Graz (2010); in Stille, premiered at RadioKulturhaus Wien, Vienna (2011); 1. Streichquartett, premiered by the Asasello Quartet in conjunction with the Klangspuren Festival of Contemporary Music, Schwaz/Austria (2010); triften, premiered at the musikprotokoll in the styrian autumn (2007); weit beisammen, premiered at Wien Modern (2010).
Peter Jakober received the first prize for Puls 3 at the Ghost Note Competition. Furthermore, he received the Andrzej-Dobrowolski-Kompositionspreis des Landes Steiermark. Peter Jakober is the co-founder of the event Hörfest in Graz, a long night of new music at the Forum Stadtpark Graz, offering a performance platform to mainly younger composers.
