Ohioma Ifounu Pogoson

Born in Ikeja/Lagos, 1956.

He studied the History of African Art and Culture, focusing on the Fine Arts (Sculptures).

In 1990, he took a doctor’s degree from the University of Ibadan.

In February 1997, it will be a hundred years since English colonialists brought essential works of Benin Art abroad. Today, they are scattered over many different countries. Essential collections are to be found in Europe. Therefore, whoever wants to study African Art is forced to spend some time in Europe.

One of Ohioma Pogoson’s scientific projects focuses on the art of Benin.
