Born 1931 in Bucharest.

Studied philology and German language at the Bucharest University.

Worked as a German teacher, as a bibliographer at the state library of Bucharest and as a lecturer for an encyclopedic publisher, Bucharest. She also worked as a journalist for the newspaper “Neuer Weg” and as an editor for the magazine “Volk und Kultur”.

Member of the Romanian Writers Association and of the PEN Club.

Selected poetry books and novels: “Vina nu e amea” (poems, 1968), “Scrisori ne expediate” (poems, 1978), “Piata cerului” (poems, 1986), “Capsicü periculoase” (poems, 1998), “Sexagenara si tinasul” (novel, 2000) and “Fasanenstraße 23” (novel, 2001). Translation of the works of various writers including Günter Grass and Herta Müller.

1980 and 1996 Romanian Writers Association Prize for poetry. 1993 Writer Association Prize for novel. 2000-01 grant from the Preussischen Seehandlung Foundation in Berlin.
