Born 1968 in Geneva/Switzerland.
Nicolas Fernandez lives and works in Geneva. He received fellowships in Madrid/Spain (1994/1995), Berlin/Germany (1998–2002) and Paris/France (Cité des Arts, 2003) and was artist in residence at the Akademie Schloss Solitude (1997/1998).
His performances, exhibitions and publications include: Never say never, Kunsthalle Bern, Switzerland (1996); Ausstellungsraum K. Adamopoulos, Frankfurt am Main/Germany (1997); Freie Sicht aufs Mittelmeer, Kunsthaus Zurich, Switzerland (1998); Southern Alberta Art Gallery, Canada (1998); Centre d’Art Contemporain, Genf (1999); Biennale 6, Istanbul/Turkey (1999); Young – Neue Fotografie in der Schweizer Kunst, Fotomuseum Winterthur, Switzerland (1999); Circles 1, ZKM Karlsruhe, Germany (2000); Sprengel Museum, Hannover (2000) and Re-View, Migros Museum, Zurich (2001).
He has been awarded the Bourse Berthoud in 1995 and the Fond de Décoration of the canton of Geneva in 1994.
