Born in Izmir/Turkey in 1992.
Mert Moralı is a Berlin-based composer whose current research and artistic focus lies on the relationship between prosthesis and corporeality and how this relationship is conditioned by space, particularly its socio-political connotations.
Moralı is the recipient of first prize in the duo category at Wilde Lieder – Marx.Music Composing Competition, Trier/Germany, and the J. J. Strossmayer Prize at the Novalis Festival, Osijek/Croatia. He was also a composition fellow at Künstlerdorf Schöppingen, Künstlerhof Schreyahn, and Villa Aurora, Los Angeles/US.
His works have been performed at festivals such as the Bauhaus Festival, Dessau/Germany; Festival Mixtur, Barcelona/Spain; Klangwerkstatt Berlin and Ultraschall Berlin. They have been performed by ensembles including Ensemble Dal Niente, das Neue Ensemble, ensemble proton bern, Georg Katzer Ensemble, hand werk, KNM Berlin, and Modern Art Ensemble.
Moralı has participated in masterclasses and workshops with distinguished composers including Mark Andre, Franck Bedrossian, Pierluigi Billone, Chaya Czernowin, Brian Ferneyhough, Francesco Filidei, Liza Lim, Isabel Mundry, Sarah Nemtsov, and Marco Stroppa. He holds a degree in Composition from Bilkent University, Ankara/Turkey, and continued his studies at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, where he also pursued electroacoustic music.
Moralı nahm an Meisterklassen und Workshops mit renommierten Komponist*innen wie Mark Andre, Franck Bedrossian, Pierluigi Billone, Chaya Czernowin, Brian Ferneyhough, Francesco Filidei, Liza Lim, Isabel Mundry, Sarah Nemtsov und Marco Stroppa teil. Er hat einen Abschluss in Komposition von der Bilkent University, Ankara/Türkei, und setzte seine Studien an der Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin fort, wo er sich auch mit elektroakustischer Musik beschäftigte.
