Maryam Ghiasi is an Iranian filmmaker, video artist, and screenwriter based in Paris/France.
She completed a four-year training program in Visual Effects (VFX) at the Tehran Institute of Technology to strengthen her technical skills in cinema. She was later accepted into the MFA program in Cinema at Tarbiat Modarres University but chose to leave before completing the degree in order to pursue her artistic projects independently.

In 2014, she co-founded the film production company Chargoosh Studio with fellow artists—an initiative that continues to thrive.

Ghiasi has written and directed two narrative short films, The Home Which I Loved and Stain, both of which were selected by prestigious international film festivals. She further developed her screenwriting skills under the mentorship of acclaimed filmmaker Asghar Farhadi.
Since 2021, she has been working as a director’s advisor and screenwriter on a Shadowy store(y), an ambitious animated short by Houman Tehrani Sharif, which has been selected by various international festivals.

From 2023 onward, Ghiasi has increasingly focused on interdisciplinary performance projects that blend cinema, visual arts, and movement, alongside her long-time collaborator and life partner, Ali Mirmohammadi. She played a creative role in the solo dance piece Lullaby, developed through residencies at Workspace Brussels, PACT Zollverein, and the Camargo Foundation. The project was co-produced by Charleroi Danse in Brussels/Belgium.

Her ongoing work on the performance project Mangle further reflects her evolving interest in spatial storytelling and immersive visual environments. In this piece, she is deeply involved in both creation and visual direction. Co-produced by Charleroi Danse, the project has been developed through residencies at the Camargo Foundation, Cité Internationale des Arts, PACT Zollverein, Le CND (Centre National de la Danse) in Paris, and Montpellier Danse. In April 2024, Mangle was selected for the prestigious Chaillot Fabrique residency at Théâtre National de la Danse.

These recent works mark a significant expansion of Ghiasi’s artistic practice, as she continues to explore the intersection of movement, space, and image in live performance. Alongside her involvement with Mangle, she is currently devoting most of her time to developing the screenplay for her debut feature film.
