Martin Lamotte

Born 1986 in Paris/France.

Martin Lamotte is an anthropologist living in Montreuil/France. Trained in anthropology as well as in Urban Studies, he has received in 2015 a Ph.D. from the Advanced Studies at the Social Sciences (EHESS-Paris) and a Ph.D. from the National Institute for Scientific Research (INRS-Montréal, Canada). He is currently a post-doctorate fellow at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) within the Laboratoire d’Anthropologie Sociale (LAS – Collège de France – EHESS).

His doctorate research focused on the global circulation of a gang and he conducted a multi-sited ethnography between New York City, Barcelona and Guayaquil City. This research has been founded by the Fulbright Fellowship, the School for Hispanic and Iberian Advanced Studies (EHEHI) and a doctoral fellowship from the EHESS.

His work has been published in international journals such as Current (The Ñeta Law, the Ñeta World, 2016, Vol. 1-13), IJURR (Rebel without a pause, 2014, Vol. 38, N°2) or L’Homme (La police, le “gang” et le Non Profit, 2016, Vol. 3, n°219-220). In 2015 he received an award for the »Best Innovative Dissertation of the Year« from the INRS-Canada. He also participated in round tables organized by the BPI at the Centre George Pompidou (2015) or at the School of Architecture and Design within the Oslo Architecture Triennial (2016).
