Born in 1978 in Cyprus.

Elia received his B. A. in guitar, music educational theory, composition and music theory from the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg/Austria in 2004.

Thereafter he studied with Klaus Huber at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel/Switzerland. In 2005 Elia received his Master’s degree in composition in the class of Adriana Hölszky. In 2006 he completed his postgraduate studies in composition under Adriana Hölszky at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg.

He attended master classes with Karlheinz Stockhausen, Helmut Lachenmann, Georges Aperghis, Beat Furrer, Boguslaw Schaeffer and Richard Boulanger.

Selected pieces: »Elpis« for accordion orchestra (2006-2007); »Akanthai (Thorns)« for chamber orchestra (2006); »Der Flötenzauberflöte« music theatre for four singers, five actors and large ensemble (2005/2006); »Erdbeeren und Trauben« for string trio (2004); »Strophes«, multimedia composition for 11 voices and instrumental ensemble (2003/2004).

In 2006 Elia was awarded several prizes, including the 1st International Composition Competition of the Hamburger Klangwerktage, Germany, the 12th composition competition within the Wiener Sommerseminar für Neue Musik, Austria and the 1st Prize of the Savarez-Corelli Wettbewerb Salzburg.
