Marianne Zückler

Born 1960 in Berlin/Germany.

Marianne Zückler studied german literature, pedagogy and theater pedagogy at The Berlin University of the Arts. Since 1994 she has been working as a freelance author and assistant professor for documentary and biographical theater productions.

Her works with Ariane Mnouchkine at Théâtre du Soleil in Paris/France on Molière’s comedy Tartuffe (1995) and with Harry Kupfer at Komische Oper in Berlin on Donizetti’s comedy Lucia di Lammermoor (1996) have shaped her to a great extend.

She received several awards for her work, including the nomination of her audio drama Knopfauge (RBB/SWF) for the Hörspielpreis der Kriegsblinden in 1999 and the Austrian audio drama price Slabbesz for her work Weites Land, tiefer Ton (NDR) in 2000. Furthermore, her work has been supported by the Robert Bosch Stiftung in Stuttgart/Germany and the ministry of education and culture in Schleswig-Holstein.

She is interested in the interlacing of rooms of experience and memory as well as the »transgenerational« transfer of war- and violence-induced trauma. Her first novel Der Blanke Hans und seine Frauen was published in 2015 by Husumverlag.
