Makiko Nishikaze

Born 1968 in Wakayama (Japan).

Study of composition in Japan, California (Mills College) and at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin (with Walter Zimmermann).

Performances of compositions at the Berliner Klangwerkstatt, the Darmstädter Ferienkurse, the Sonambiente Festival in Berlin, the Chamber Music Festival in Japan, etc.

Radio recordings in Canada and Australia, numerous composition commissions.

Solo piano concerts in Berlin in 1996 and in Düsseldorf in 1998.

1994 recipient of a composition grant from the Senate of Berlin, 1995 of the Composition Prize of the State Capital Stuttgart and 1996 of the Composition Sponsorship Prize of the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin.
