Liliana Corobca

Born 1975 in Săseni-Călăraşi/Moldova.

Liliana Corobca studied from 1992 to 1997 at the faculty for philology at the State University of Moldova in Chisinau. From 1997 to 2001 she did her doctorate in literary sciences at the University of Bucharest.

Since 2002, she has worked at the George Calinescu Institute for literary history and theory in Bucharest. From 2004 to 2007 she taught Romanian exile literature from 1945 to 1989 at the University of Ploiesti. Alongside of that Liliana Corobca also held seminars on Romanian Literature at the University of Bucharest.

The book The Romanian Golgatha. The Testimonies of the Bucovina People Deported in Siberia, Collected by Dumitru Covalciuc, edited and annotated by Corobca, will be released in spring 2009. She currently works on a research project on communist censorship from 1945 to 1989 as well as on the novel The Empire of the Spinsters.

For her debut in prose, she was granted the Prometheus prize of the Moldavian Writers’ Union in 2003/2004.
