Kurt Drawert

Born 1956 in Hennigsdorf, Germany. Started as electronics worker, among other jobs. 1982-1985 he studied literature at the Institut fŸr Literatur in Leipzig. Since 1986 freelance writer. In 1993 he moved to Western Germany, since 1996 living in Darmstadt.

Grants: Fšrderpreis, JŸrgen Ponto Foundation 1991; Villa Massimo, Rome 1995/96; Arno-Schmidt-Stipendium 2000/01.

Awards: Leonce-und-Lena-Preis, Darmstadt 1989; Lyrikpreis Meran (Italy) 1993; Ingeborg-Bachmann-Preis, Klagenfurt (Austria) 1993; Uwe-Johnson-Preis 1994; Nikolaus-Lenau-Preis 1997.
