Born 1984 in Cologne/Germany.
Katharina Hartwell works as a prose writer and lives in Berlin/Germany since 2014. She studied English literature and culture in Frankfurt am Main/Germany and graduated with honors. Following, she received a master’s degree from the Deutsche Literaturinstitut Leipzig, Germany.
In 2011 her collection of stories Im Eisluftballon was published by Poetenladen, in 2013 her first novel Das Fremde Meer was published by Berlin Verlag and was awarded the Hallertauer Debütpreis. Her second novel Der Dieb in der Nacht will be published by Berlin Verlag in 2015.
Katarina Hartwell has received the MDR-Literaturpreis and the Würth-Literaturpreis. In the last years she has been a fellow of Literarisches Colloquium Berlin, Germany, the Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen, Germany, and in Prague/Czech Republic. In 2013 she was the Island author of Sylt, Germany.
