Katarina Burin

Born in Bratislava/Slovakia.

Katarina Burin studied fine arts at the University of Georgia, Athens, GA/USA, and at the Yale University, New Haven, CT/USA. Her exhibitions include the exhibition of the Foster Prize finalists at the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston, MA/USA and solo exhibitions at Ratio 3, San Francisco, CA/USA, M29 Richter & Brückner, Cologne/Germany, and Lucile Corty, Paris/France. Katarina has participated in many group exhibitions including exhibitions at Form/Content in London/UK, White Columns in New York, NY/USA, Participant Inc. in New York, and at the Galerie Max Hetzler, Berlin/Germany.

In 2012/2013 she co-curated an exhibition at the Carpenter Center of Visual Arts und self-published an artist book which includes her current project, the work of the Czech architect Petra Andrejova-Molnár. In 2013, Katarina received the James and Audrey Foster Prize from the ICA Boston, a Graham Foundation grant for a curatorial project as well as a Dedalus Master of Fine Arts Fellowship. She was artist in residency at the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna/Austria, at Skowhegan in Madison, ME/USA, at Yaddow in Saratoga Springs, NY/USA and the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, NH/USA.

Katarina is lecturer at the Department of Visual and Environmental Studies of the Harvard University, Cambridge, MA/USA, and is currently working on two upcoming exhibitions at the Kunstverein Langenhagen, Germany, and the Aspen Art Museum, CO/USA.
