Born 1978 in Galveston, TX/USA.

Joshua Edwards studied literature at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI/USA, as well as international studies and religious studies at the University of Oregon, Eugene, OR/USA.

He worked as an English teacher in Shanghai/China and as a teacher for creative writing in Singapore/Republic of Singapore and Michigan. Furthermore, he worked for NGO projects in Mexico, Nicaragua, and Ecuador.

He has received numerous fellowships and prizes, including the Stegner Fellowship at Stanford University (2009–2011) and the Fulbright-García Robles grant from Mexico (2007/2008). In April 2011, he published the poetry-book Campeche (with photographs by Van Edwards), edited by Noemi Press. Joshua Edwards translated the book Ficticia by María Baranda, published by Shearsman Books (2010).

He works as a freelance editor and designer, teaches creative writing, and is the director and co–editor of Canarium Books.
