Josephine Truman studied visual arts at the Technical College and at the Alexander Mackey College of Advanced Education, and composition and the Conservatory of Music in Sydney (MA).

She works as a composer and as a sound and performance artist. Truman regularly exhibits her work at international festivals and has been awarded various prizes and grants.

Selected projects and performances: »A Bite in Time,« collaborative multimedia performance, created and shown at Akademie Schloss Solitude; »Ways and Meanings,« shown at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam; performance at the First International Jazz Fest Litauen with trio; duo with Fred Frith at the Brno Rock Festival in the Czech Republic; »The Eareye Seesherars« at the Ijsbrekker in Amsterdam; »Antipodear« at the Klangraum Festival in Stuttgart; »Extreme Throats,« radio mini series; »Sdreamings,« radio drama for the WDR (German broadcasting corporation); »Cell Songs,« radio drama.

In 2007 Truman was awarded a prize at the Blue Mountains Music Awards in Australia.
