Johanna Ziemer

Johanna Ziemer works as a dramaturg with a focus on music theater and opera performance.

Working in contemporary theater, she mainly searches for exciting and actual accesses to the grand classical opera material and tries to involve professional and amateur actors equally. Together with the music theater collective HAUEN UND STECHEN from Berlin, Johanna performed in different theaters of the German-speaking area.

Another important research focus for her is the contemporary performance scene in West Africa and the confrontation with African philosophy and literature in the 20th and 21st century. Research visits often take Johanna to Dakar and Saint-Louis/Senegal. In May 2018, she managed the artist Madiaw Njaay’s project SANDAGA CIRCUS in conjunction with the biennale Dak’Art, program #urbi.
