Born 1977 in Hamburg/Germany.
Johanna Diehl lives and works as a freelance artist in Berlin/Germany. She studied philosophy at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität in Munich/Germany from 1998–1999 and visual arts and photography by Prof. Timm Rautert at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig (HGB), Germany from 2000–2007 of which she studied two semesters by Boris Mikhailov. From 2004–2005 she studied in the classes of Jean-Marc Bustamante and Christian Boltanski at École nationale supérieure des Beaux-arts, Paris/France. She was also student in the master classes of Prof. Tina Braun at HGB from 2010–2012.
Johanna Diehl received a work stipend of Stiftung Kunstfonds 2013 as well as the Grenzgänger-Stipendium of Robert Bosch Stiftung in 2012 for her project Im Raum lesen wir die Zeit – Synagogen in der Ukraine.
Her works have been exhibited in solo exhibitions amongst others at Overbeck-Gesellschaft, Kunstverein, Lübeck/Germany (2012), in Galerie Wilma Tolksdorf, Frankfurt am Main/Germany (2011) and at Oldenburger Kunstverein, Germany (2010) as well as in group exhibitons at amongst others Religion und Riten, Art Foyer DZ Bank, Frankfurt am Main (2012), Paris Photo in Paris (2012), Showing the case: Showcase/Über-Zeit, Heidelberger Kunstverein, Germany (2012) and Wie zusammen leben?, Salzburger Kunstverein, Austria (2012).
