Born 1969 in Belgrade (Yugoslavia).
B.A. in theater from the University of California, San Diego and M.F.A. in directing from Columbia University, School of the Arts. He worked as an assistant with Robert Wilson and Julie Taymor.
Ivan Talijancic is a founder and co-artistic director of WaxFactory, a New York based international multidisciplinary company. Productions directed and developed with the company include, LULU, QUARTET v2.0, and site-specific installation/performance LADYFROMTHESEA, staged in thirteen interconnected indoor and outdoor locations at the Old American Can Factory in Brooklyn (“most innovative production, 2001”, Ballet-Tanz International).
His most recent work was the international co-production of Sarah Kane’s CLEANSED, a co-production with Exodos Festival in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Upcoming projects include …SHE SAID (premiere: February 2005, Cankarjev Dom, Slovenia) and 39 FRAMES, inspired by the mind and the oeuvre of Alfred Hitchcock, currently in the early stages of development.
Recent residencies include: Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX) in 2000/01, HERE Arts Center, New York in 2001-2002, Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab. He is a usual suspect at the New York Theater Workshop.
