Born 1991 in Ourense/Spain.
Iván Salgado was six when he started playing chess and already in 2001 he was the Spanish chess master under ten years. He first practiced with his brother before attending the Escuela Internacional de Ajedrez Kasparov-Marcote in Mondariz/Spain.
With his trainer Alejandro Hoffman he received the title International Chess Master at the age of 15. Only one year later he received the title Grand Master of Chess, being the youngest Spanish chess player ever with this title.
Currently, Iván Salgado is living in Madrid where he practices with Marc Narciso. Furthermore, he studies psychology at the Universidad de Educación a Distancia.
