Born 1956 in Presov (Slowakei), Iris Szeghy studied composing and the piano at the Musikhochschule Bratislava 1976-1981. Postgraduated studies followed between 1986-1989, and the dissertation in 1990 at the Musikhochschule Bratislava.Since summer 2000 iris Srefgy gives lectures in composing Musikhochschule Bratislava.

Grants (Selection): grant of the Musikfond Bratislava (1984-1986); “Arts Link”, University of Caliornia, San Diego (194); grant of the STEIM-Studios, Amsterdam (1995); Augenthaltsstipendium des Landes Niedersachsen, Worpswede (1999).

Iris Szeghy wrote numberous pieces for orchestra, chamer orchestra and choir, she currently works on an opera. Her musicak pieces have been performed in various concerts and at festivals such as Stuttgart (1993); San Diego (1994); Hamburg (1996), Bremen (1999).
