Imran Ali Khan is a writer and researcher and sometimes he makes images too. He has no head for maps but uses stories to find his way. Imran’s last project, entitled Kiski Kahani: The Ramayana Project, looked at ways in which the Ramayana, in its many diverse retellings and forms, could be archived and documented.
At the heart of this epic lies the story of Dussera, a festival that he now studies. His current project, located at the foothills of the Himalayas, is an attempt to draw from the gaps of the heard, the remembered, and the retold, to reimagine ritual spaces as they intersect with memory in the nebulous meta-scape of oral traditions and performances.
