Ian Anderson

The Designers Republic (tDR) was founded 15 years ago and became renowned through their designs mainly in DJ and club culture in the early 1990s. Current members are: Ian Anderson, Nick Bax, Matt Pyke, David Bailey, Abby Ribbands, Vicki Lewis and Bob Sanderson. The tDR* font, DR No/B, is available on Fuse 6, Spring 1993 and a DR* Font compilation is in production, to be released possibly through FontFont. »New & Used – The World of the Designers Republic« a book to be published in spring 1990 is still in progress. In 1994 Emigre Magazine devoted a whole issue to the Designers Republic. This issue is still Emigre’s best-ever seller and is now sold out. tDR has been represented on D&AD; Graphics juries in 1990,1998,1999, the ICAD awards jury (Dublin)1999 and many other awards committees over the last ten years. Ian Anderson has held numerous lecture internationally in recent years and has spoken at various Fuse events, T/Hype, Creative Futures and AGIdeas. In 1996/7 Swatch commissioned a tDR* watch.
