Frank Westermeyer

Born 1971 in Essen/Germany.

Frank Westermeyer studied communication design with Ursula Wevers and Bazon Brock at the Bergische University Wuppertal and later on at the École Nationale Supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris with a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) fellowship. From 2000-2004 he was an artistic associate at the Bauhaus University Weimar and in 2004 held a teaching position at the School of the Art Institute, Chicago. Since 2004 he teaches video art at the Geneva University of Art and Design.

Sylvie Boisseau and Frank Westermeyer have been working together since 1996. They realized numerous video works as well as interventions in public space.

The video works of Sylvie Boisseau and Frank Westermeyer have been shown on the German television channel 3sat and at over 50 festivals in more than 18 countries, where they were awarded prizes such as: Best Foreign Film, »Der freie Mensch«, Red Bank Int. Filmfestival, Red Bank, New Jersey, USA (2002); »Cineric« prize for »Der freie Mensch« at the New York Film and Video Expo, NYC, USA (2002); grand jury prize for »Moi vu par …« at the 10th Int. Bochum Videofestival (2002), Best Picture for »Meine Familie und ich«, Cinematexas Int. Filmfestival Austin, TX, USA (1998).
