Born 1963, Erik Steinbrecher studied architecture and was promoted as an Dipl. Arch. at the ETH Zürich.

Various exhibiton-projects, work in artists studios and architeture bureaus (M. Sik, Zürich, H. Kollhoff, Berlin). Work as a freelance artist (drawing, objects, photography, room installarions) Between 1992 and 1994 assistent lectorer at the ETH, Zurich.

Grants and awards: Prizewinner at the “Eidgenössischer Wettbewerb für freie Kunst” (1996/1997); Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (1997); Zurich studio-grant (1998/99); working grant, Bildende Kunst, Berlin (1999).
