Elmar Mellert

Born 1985 in Rome/Italy.

Elmar Mellert grew up in Italy, South Africa and Germany and works as artist, curator and DJ. Since 2013 he has been studying fine arts at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart.

As of 2004 Elmar Mellert works as radio journalist and moderator for different free radio and internet radio stations and in 2008 he founded the artist collective 15minutesmotelboys, together with Martin Zieske. Further curator assistances followed at Künstlerhaus Stuttgart and at project space Hermes und der Pfau.

Since 2012 Elmar Mellert has been presenting his own artistic works in solo and group exhibitions at different international institutions. He published the artist book A fountain of spraying crystal erupted around us with Edition Taube and also participated in the illustrated book Bildband von Heubach on behalf of the city of Heubach.

In 2015 he joined the non-commercial exhibition and performance project Palermo and curated solo exhibitions in a former Commerzbank in Stuttgart.

The exhibition and performance project Palermo was continued in a new space also with temporarily limited use. Besides exhibitions, performances and lectures also concerts, filmscreeenings and parties were organized. The diverse program could be realized through different cooperations with Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart, Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart, the curator project Anorak and Akademie Schloss Solitude.
