Elisabeth Schweeger
Born in Vienna.
Studied comparative literature, Romance and German literature and philosophy in Vienna, Innsbruck and at the Sorbonne in Paris. Book trade apprentice.
1979 Ph.d. in philosophy and dramatic producer at the State Theater of Bremen. Professorship at the Vienna Academy of Applied Arts (Wiener Hochschule für angewandte Kunst) and at the Vienna Acad-emy of Fine Arts (Akademie der bildende Künste). Director of the exhibition program at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts from 1985-92.
1993-2000 artistic director of the performing arts space Marstall in Munich and 1999-2000 chief dramatic producer at the Bavarian State Theater.
Since 2001 director of the Frankfurt Theater.
Exhibition curator for selected exhibitions at: “Ars Electronica”, “documenta”, “OK Linz” and “Museumquartier Wien”. 2001 curator of the Austrian Pavilion at the 49th Venice Biennale.
