Elena Morena Weber
Born 1984 in Zurich/Switzerland.
Elena Morena Weber lives in Zurich and works as a performance artist abroad and in Switzerland. In 2008 she completed her studies at the Iwanson International School of Contemporary Dance in Munich/Germany. She worked as a dancer and performer with among others Carambole tanz&theater; Cie. Willi Dorner, cie. As Palavras – Claudio Bernardo, Jessica Huber, Philipp Egli, Delgado Fuchs, Marcel Leemann, Irina Lorez & Co. and cie.dysoundbo | Linda Magnifico & Sasha Shlain zusammen.
2014 she acted as the leading role »Karriere« in the theater production Barone Utopia by Theater Jetzt under the direction of Oliver Kühn. An experience which introduced her into the world of spoken theater. Elena Morena Weber took part in the dance film Quieta…Inquietudine by Nunzio Impellizzeri, which received the audience award at the 60secondsdance competition at Loikka Dance Film Festival, Finland in 2016. Her solo RÖSTIGRABE received the first prize at the festival Zeitverschwendung!, E-Werk Freiburg, Germany in 2015.
Her work SPUREN, developed with Mirjam Sutter, rediscovers archaic Swiss customs. Her piece GEORGE, realized with OFF deluxe, is her first full-length work.
Elena Morena Weber uses her body and the surrounding space as a tool to reflect on the complex facets of her identity and to stage them in a narrative, abstract context.
During her stay at Akademie Schloss Solitude, Elena Morena Weber works on the project ECHOES – The Body As Archive.
