Edith Lázár holds a BA in Art History and a master’s degree in philosophy, culture and communication from Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca/Romania. She is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in philosophy at the same university with a thesis on fashion, and has been the fashion series editor for the international art platform anti-utopias since 2014. Taking interest in contemporary artistic practices, she focuses her research on fictions, dissensus, and aesthetic politics; alternative structures of perception and forms of visibility; and the imbrications between art, fashion, practice, and the everyday.

Edith Lázar has written extensively for Romanian cultural platforms and journals such as IDEA arts+society, Revista ARTA, or LiterNet.ro, and has been involved in various art projects since 2015. She has frequently collaborated with SPRLQDT Art Space and is the co-founder of Aici/Acolo Pop-up Gallery – a project that reactivates unused or abandoned urban spaces in Cluj-Napoca by transforming them into temporary art spaces. In 2016, she co-curated the exhibition On Failing as part of the Temps D’Images festival in Cluj-Napoca.

Edith Lázar is currently based in Cluj-Napoca.
