Born 1978 in Akureyri/Iceland.
David Brynjar Franzson studied music and composition at Stanford University, Stanford, CA/USA. With one of his latest compositions, On Types and Typographies, he participated in several festivals, including the Transit Festival, Leuven/Belgium, and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Huddersfield/UK. In 2012, the piece will be performed at the Dark Music Days, Reykjavik/Iceland.
On Repetition and Reappearances was also performed at the Musica Nova Festival, Helsinki/Finland (2011). And A Guide for the Dead through the Underworld was performed by Ensemble Adapter at the Ultraschall Festival, Berlin/Germany, and was recently broadcast by the Icelandic National Radio as well as by Deutschlandradio Kultur.
David Brynjar Franzson was one of the finalists of the Christoph Delz Foundation’s Competition, Basel/Switzerland, and received a scholarship of the International Summer Course for New Music, Darmstadt/Germany.
