David Brynjar Franzson is an Icelandic composer currently residing in New York. He holds a doctorate degree from Stanford University where he studied with Brian Ferneyhough and Mark Applebaum as well as with Tristan Murail at Columbia University.
His works have been performed by ensembles such as Ensemble Surplus, Ensemble Aventure, Asamisimasa, Oslo Sinfonietta, Ensemble Adapter, Caput and Inauthentica. 2009 performances include among others the NYCEMF, New York; Raflost, Reykjavik; UCSD Spring Festival, San Diego and the Nordic Music Days 2009, Oslo.
His music also has been performed at festivals such as März Musik, Berlin; Global Interplay, New York; ISCM World Music Days in Stuttgart and Vilnius, Nordic Music Days 2008, Helsinki; Dark Days of Modern Music, Reykjavik.
