Born 1986 in Singpore/Singapore.
Daniel Hui is a Singaporean filmmaker currently based in Boston, MA/USA. A graduate of the School of Film/Video at the California Institute of the Arts (2009–2011), he makes short and feature-length works primarily on 16mm film. His last completed feature-length works include: Snakeskin (105 minutes, 2014) and Eclipses (105 minutes, 2011). These films have been shown in film festivals such as the Torino Film Festival (where Snakeskin won the Special Jury Prize at the TFFDoc section), the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival (where Snakeskin won the Award of Excellence at its New Asian Currents section) and Doclisboa (where Eclipses was awarded the Pixel Bunker Award for Best International Competition Feature-Length Film).
Daniel Hui is currently working on two new film projects – a fiction feature entitled Demons, and a documentary entitled A Short Film For the Dead.
Daniel Hui is a fellow in the framework of a cooperation of Akademie Schloss Solitude with FidLab Marseille.
