B.A. from Connecticut College in New London, CT in 1992, M.F.A. from Bard College in Annandale, NY in 2004.
From 1994-1998 saxophone studies with reed player and composer Ken Vandermark, from 1999-2002 saxophone studies with wind player and composer Vinny Golia.
Chris Heenan is an improvising musician who lives in Los Angeles. He plays alto saxophone, bass clarinet and contrabass clarinet. Some current projects include Team Up, a duo with guitarist NYC-based Chris Forsyth (their upcoming cd release will be out this fall on REIFY), an improvising clarinet trio with David Rothbaum and Cory Wright, and a CD of large group improvisations co-organized by Heenan and Drake. He is also a member of Rich West’s Bedouin Hornbook and Adam Rudolph’s Go Organic Orchestra. He has performed and/or recorded with such musicians as Ernesto Diaz-Infante, Vinny Golia, Harris Eisenstadt, Joseph Hammer, Henry Grimes, Wolfgang Fuchs, Dan Clucas, Tony Bevan, Wadada Leo Smith, Torsten Müller, Jerome Bryerton, Bob Marsh, Frank Gratkowski, Lynn Johnston, Alex Cline, Rick Potts (of Solid Eye), Jaime Fennelly, Peter Kowald, Rod Poole, David Rothbaum, Damon Smith, Anne LeBaron, Nels Cline, Adam Lane, Sabu Toyozumi, Kyle Bruckmann and Brett Larner.
