Bogdan Cosa

Bogdan Coșa holds a bachelor degree in Romanian Literature and English Literature from Transilvania University of Brașov and a master degree in Literary Theory and Comparative Studies from The University of Bucharest; in 2012, he has been an invited lecturer at the same university. He has published stories and essays in magazines, art catalogues and anthologies and has translated five novels. He has been given various fellowships and grants for his work and his writing, among others by Hessischer Literaturrat, Germany, Pécsi Íróprogram, Hungary or the Salzburg Literaturhaus, Austria.

Bogdan Coșa’s first novel Poker was published by Editura Cartea Românească in 2011 – after winning the național manuscript contest organized each year by the publishing house in associassion with the Romanian Writers Union. Poker has been the Tiuk! magazine editors’ choice as the prose debut of the year. Also, it has been nominated for several literary awards and for the Premiers Romans En Lecture French Festival.

In 2012 he has represented Romania at the 19th Edition of the European First Novel Festival in Budapest. And his second novel Poker. Black Glass was published by Editura Cartea Românească in 2013. În 2014 he won the Young Romanian Novelist of the year title – which stands for writers under 36.

He has represented Romania at the 6th Edition of the Romanian-Swedish Poetry And Literary Translations Workshop in Biskops Arnö, Sweden.

An adaptation after his first two parts of his (unfinished) trilogy has been played on different stages in Romania (including Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca) by Leta Popescu.

Bogdan Coșa’s poems were also published by Editura Cartea Românească. Parts of his works has been translated into English, French, German, Hungarian, Spanish and Swedish.

He is currently editing his third novel’s manuscript, Poker. No Bad Days.
