Born in Tokyo/Japan in 1989.
Many of her works consist of large-scale installations and interventionist alterations to existing architecture.
Mochida received the 2021–2022 Activation grant from the Mitsubishi Corporation Art Gate Program for her project Unbuilding. In 2022, she was chosen as one of the »30 artists under age 35 whom the art world is now paying attention to« (ART News JAPAN). She was awarded the Mami Kataoka Prize (TERRADA ART AWARD 2021) for Steps, a work in which she built a temporary spiral staircase that was subsequently exhibited at Mega Art Storage Kitakagaya. She won the Seiichi Saito Prize (CAF Award 2018), the Yusaku Imamura Prize (Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi 2018), and the Salon du Printemps Prize (Tokyo University of the Arts) for The Revolving House of T., a work in which the center of a house was cut out in a rotating circular shape.
In 2018, she was a resident researcher in Germany and Singapore as an overseas trainee of the Pola Art Foundation. She has participated in many exhibitions, including the Northern Alps International Art Festival 2020–2021, the Sapporo International Art Festival 2020, and the Reborn Art Festival 2019 in Ishinomaki/Japan.
She lives and works in the village of Oshika in Shimoina county, Nagano prefecture/Japan.
