Andrea Benze

Born 1965 in Bonn/Germany.

Andrea Benze studied architecture at the Technical University Darmstadt, Germany and received a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) that allowed her to finish her studies at the Bartlett School of Architecture and Planning, University College London, London/UK. After her studies she worked for several architecture firms in London and Berlin (1993–1998). Since 1998 she has also been working as a lecturer and researcher. In 2002 she founded OFFSEA (office for socially engaged architecture) with Anuschka Kutz that works as a collaboration between London and Berlin.

OFFSEA (office for socially engaged architecture)
In 2002 Andrea Benze and Anuschka Kutz founded OFFSEA, a collaboration between London and Berlin. OFFSEA operates like an interface between architecture, art and social criticism in theory and practice. In their work the architects explore the dimensions of the lived everyday and develop conceptual architectural strategies both in urban and domestic space.
Recent projects: Das nachgeholte Treffen von Neufert, Tessenow und Buster Keaton (The Rescheduled Meeting of Neufert, Teesenow and Buster Keaton), which won them the first prize at Europan Graz, Graz/ Austria (2003); Das permutierte Einfamilienhaus (The Permuted Detached House), Graz (2004); Küchenschrein und Hundekomfort (Kitschen Shrine and Pet Comfort), Brighton/UK, Cologne/Germany and Weimar/Germany (2006) and Flexible Wohnwürfel (Flexible Living Cubes), Graz (2008).
