Born 1978 in Sofia/Bulgaria. 
Alexander Manuiloff is a Bulgarian writer, playwright, and screenwriter, based in Sofia. He studied theory of literature and slavic studies at Sofia University (1997–2003), history of art at Charles University , Prague/Czech Republic, (1999) and scriptwriting at New Bulgarian University in Sofia, (2003–2005). He is the founder of Radar Sofia, the first residency place for foreign playwrights in Bulgaria.

For his book Film Manuiloff received the Bulgarian Writers’ Guild Award for the best fiction debut in 2004, and the National Award for Dramaturgy Ivan Radoev in 2019. 

He is the first Bulgarian writer presented at Theatertreffen’s Stückemarkt in Berlin/Germany (2015). He also received a fellowship of the Goethe-Institute for the Translator’s Colloquium at the festival Mülheimer Theatertage (2019). His works have been translated into 13 languages so far and presented at 50 theatre festivals on four continents.
