Born 1953 in Casablanca.
He grew up in a very poor quarter of Casablanca and was imprisoned because of his “immoral” poetry. Today, he is one of the most famous poets in Morocco.
Selected works: “Danse de la tête et de la rose” (1977), “Fleurs de pierre” (1980), “Rires de l’arbre à palabre” (1982), “Bougies noires” (1998), “Petites proses” (1998), Echelles de la Métaphysique (2001). His works have been translated into German in the poetry anthology “Die Farbe der Ferne”, (ed. Stefan Weidner, C.H.Beck, Munich, 2000) and a short story in “Betonblumen – Aus fernen Großstädten”, (ed. W. von Binder, Fischer Taschenbuch, Frankfurt a.M., 1992).
