Theatre of Operationality
The publishing house for handbooks presents its first book release in the Theatre of Operationality. The Theatre of Operationality contains: 6x hot of the press handbooks written by artists, 6x approaches to reading and performing the handbook and 1x the question whether the format of the handbook can render the changeability of the world readable. On each day the handbook-release will focus on one of the six different handbooks and question a possible positioning of the book inside an assemblage of occurrences and objects that hover around it.
The handbook structures the space between environment and agent, the object and the viewer and attempts to draw a notation of this complex field that we used to call perception. A handbook takes this intermediate space as one that is primarily structured by an action. The form of this action is repetitive and prone to improvement, it is akin to daily encounters with objects like a bike or a vacuum cleaner. This know-how forms the agenda of each handbook. In return we expect that the transference of such know-how onto the relationship with artworks might cause repercussions in the workings of our surroundings and the surroundings of our work.
