The Web Residencies »Muntu Maxims« are online now! Please visit our new online space to explore the latest projects from the Digital Solitude program
Together with the launch of the four new Web Residency projects for the call »Muntu Maxims,« we are very excited to present the New Digital Solitude Online Space, where you will find future Web Residency projects and online exhibitions, and the latest Web Residency projects.
The 13th Web Residencies »Muntu Maxims« called for »images that venerate the idea of things being central to the existence of life; […] Philosophies from new and old communities that offer us new parameters for fresh grounds of engagement and subsequently suggest fresh ways of »relating to« things and one another.«
The following Web Residency projects and the accompanying in-depth interviews explore the immanence of (spiritual) things and beings that inhabit our everyday life in the form of rituals, memories and imaginary deities. Marie-Eve Levasseur’s project »Brewing Symbiotic Care: Feeding and Nurturing a Fungi Cyborg Feminist Future« makes visible the unrecognized work of the brewsters, alewives, and other women who brew for their kin to survive, while Lark Alder a.k.a. VCR’s project »..oOo.. ›Virtual Moon Reverence‹« aims to unite people in a worldwide observance of the lunar cycle. The project »A garden among the flames!« by Zahra Malkani is a series of visuals based on endangered ecological forms that reflect and manifest these cosmographies, and their relation to medical healing powers and the divine. Nkhensani Mkhari’s project »Zibuyile Zinkisi« references and represents thousands of artefacts; repositories of ancestral spirits.
