For the cover of Solitude Journal 4, Time After Time, Beton.Studio processed a drawing from the series Studies in Aqueous Time by former fellow Zahra Malkani. We would like to thank the artist for the possibility to use one of her drawings as the cover subject. Reproductions of the original drawings can be found in the journal.

The Akademie Schloss Solitude is very pleased to announce the publication of the 5th edition of the Solitude Journal – A Sound Was Heard! The journal is now available online and can be ordered as a print edition.
The Solitude Journal 5 – A Sound Was Heard! is dedicated to our acoustic environment, sounds and noises, and the different ways in which sound affects the body, travels through space and time, and shapes our perception.
The idea for the journal emerged from the 19th Web Residency, Algorithmic Poetry, which focused on the harmonic dissonance that connects sonic and poetic traditions to contemporary sound practices, with a particular emphasis on the use of machine learning interventions to create sound as a poetic device. Solitude Journal 5 – A Sound Was Heard! expands on these resonant threads. It brings together voices of former fellows to explore the multiple affective, materialized, and intimate dimensions of sonic evocations that transcend aesthetic, audible, or linguistic signals.
Readers are invited to join an exploration of the sonic space’s polyphonic web in the varied contributions, audio-visual material, and experiments in the online journal.
