WUNDERKAMMER NATURALIA ⎥ ARTIFICIALIA presents the new exhibition Invasive Exotic by Solitude fellow Marco Pando, which addresses the invasive nature of human influence on the environment. The opening will be accompanied by an artist talk by Marco Pando at 7:30 PM, followed by another artist talk by Julia Gebhardt at 8 PM, whose works will also be on view.

Marco Pando explores poetic narrative structures that transcend geographical and historical boundaries. Living between Europe and South America allows him to navigate cultural differences and serve as a bridge between his Latin American roots and European culture.

His work centers on folklore and migration. Initially, he focused on South-to-North migration and its consequences, later shifting his attention to colonial thought patterns that remain palpable in Peru today. After 17 years in Europe, he views migration as a dynamic exchange: stories, identities, and traditions move, transform, and shape new cultural expressions. He examines which elements of these processes endure over time.

The exhibition Invasive Exotic features the works How to erase language with invasive plants after the Bauhaus (ongoing project since 2022) and Echinopsis Pachanoi (2024).

In How to erase language with invasive plants after the Bauhaus glass, metal, and lead are used to construct an open futuristic city that plays with the idea of toxic and wild architecture. It is a translation of the structure of invasive plants into the Bauhaus architectural style. The forms and compositions of the plants transform into architectural constructions, creating an invasive architecture that expands and spreads.

Echinopsis Pachanoi is a painting from an ongoing series of works that stem from the aforementioned piece. In the style of old paintings depicting exotic flora during colonialism, it plays with the idea of how invasive architecture might appear in the landscape of the future.
