For the twentieth call for web residencies, Akademie Schloss Solitude is collaborating closely with designer and technologist Mindy Seu and co-founder of Are.na Charles Broskoski. The open call for »Tools for Citation« invited artists and creatives to delve into associative trails, transdisciplinary thinking, and collaborative processes in and between analogue and digital networks and worlds to explore the practices of citation.

In selecting a group of six international projects from 445 submissions, the jury was impressed with the various creative responses and artistic approaches to their call out for »Tools for Citation«. Far from a solely theoretical or functional approach, the proposals introduce citations as a relational practice in video, sound, performance, and interactive formats. The applications received encourage an expansion and renegotiation of the definitions of »tools« and »citation«.

For Web Residencies N°20, the selected six projects stood out with their creative exploration of expansive citational practices through theoretical, poetic, and performative approaches.
